I Believe in Kindness
Written by: Patsy Lussier; Go Go Green Thumbs
I am such a feelings person. I feel deeply, I care so much. And that, is part of my charm!
This is a big reason why I love the life design principles of permaculture. It is fulfilling our humans need in a way that genuinely cares. And that just makes me feel good about being alive.
The Permaculture ethics are actually: care of the earth, care of people, return of surplus.
To me this is perfectly aligned with my life ethics and caring makes me feel connected and alive.
I believe life wants to thrive. Kindness, reciprocity, is all around us. Our expectations are often askew by preconceived notions, and narrow minded in comparison of what can truly be if we simply allow and observe.
I believe in our interconnectivity as humans and our connection to our environment, to earth. All the teachings are present if we slow down and observe.
Kindness is one of my offerings. But in all honesty this week I needed to feel taken care of, I needed to remind my own self of what the supportive gentleness of kindness feels like. So I turned inwards and took a few actions that helped me tap into it, connect with that feeling. The oh so supportive earth care, people care and sharing of surplus interconnectivity.
So I looked at my last summer foraged harvest, just noticing the abundance nature gifted me with already cheered up my spirit. I carefully picked out dried Plantain, Calendula, Chickweed and Lavender each for their own unique properties. I steeped them in sunflower and coconut oil and let them soak in the sun and infuse for the week. Today I added some beeswax and transformed this magical earthy concoction into some bomb ditty body balm. Now as I apply it to my growing baby bump to soothe my skin I remind myself daily that I am deserving of kindness. And that this earth, it got me.
Kindness, love, support, caring, is really all around us. Let’s take a bit of time and find our own unique ways to notice it, soak in it and celebrate it.
