“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing…” (Helen Keller)
You are here for a purpose. You have this unique way of being, a way of contributing to life that cannot be replicated by anyone else. You are meant to live this gorgeous, exhilarating, messy life full-on! To experience the highs and lows. To evolve and grow. To discover what matters to you and align with what calls to you. So, how do you do it? How do you live life like the adventure it is?
Say yes from that inspired place inside you. You know, that place where your big dreams and desires live. Ladies, you dream big because you are big! Those dreams and desires are there for a reason. They are beckoning you to live your inspired life. They are your roadmap to this incredible journey and by following what you want — what you really, really want — you discover who you really are. It’s who you think you are that creates who you end up being.
At the beginning of the year, I made a promise to myself that I would say yes to everything that interests, excites, inspires, or delights me. If the opportunity didn’t fall into one of those four categories, I could say no. If it did, then yes was the only answer. In the last three and half months, practicing this has brought me so many interesting and exciting experiences! I was asked to be a founding member of an entrepreneurial mastermind group. I spoke at two events in Toronto. I ran four, day-long retreats teaching people how to connect to the power of their mind and create a life they love. I was invited to a girls weekend up north with three lovely ladies, two of whom were strangers. That weekend, the shared conversations and contributions set me on a path to healing my heart and this new knowledge is expanding me to help others do the same. I’ve supported other women in their adventures, professional and personal as they say yes to living their aligned purpose. Just this morning I was given the opportunity to co-host a weekend retreat this fall. I am saying yes!
There will be days. Days where you feel far less than your bright, shiny, self. Where you can’t find or feel that spark of desire. Where you will be challenged over and over again and doubt that you’ll ever succeed. Remember this.
You are not alone!
Everything that has ever been created and is now a reality was once just someone’s dream. Edison, Madame Curie, Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King Jr. Steve Jobs, Bill Gates. Oprah. All visionaries, with a belief in their dream, even in the face of negativity, resistance, doubt, and sometimes even violence. They “knew” something to be true, and they stayed true to their truth. They kept saying yes.
There is potential and possibility in every moment. Inspired action is the doorway to living a life you love. Saying yes is the key.
I love this quote by Hunter S. Thompson:
“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming, WOW, what a ride!”
