This Week’s Topic – The Artist Date

In This Week's Topic, Weekly Forum Discussion

Ladies!

Creativity.

This is probably our favourite topic. We do it a lot and like a palate cleanser, it’s the perfect way to transition out of some of the deeper work we’ve been doing together over the past few weeks.

2021 will be like no other, and yet it is a continuation of the uncertainty that Covid has caused. And… the world has shown incredible resilience. So much of that can be attributed to our creative minds, that part of us that is open to new ideas and solutions. It is perhaps one of the most beautiful things about human nature.

This week, let’s bring some of that into our own personal lives. Let’s bring it home and give it a home in our own lives.

It’s the perfect energy to ground the evolution of our community.

The Artist Date:

This is a practice many of us already do and love because of a book called The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. It is the practice of taking yourself on a weekly date—just you alone—to a place you love or have never been before, with the intention of connecting to your creativity, and then allowing it to take you where it wants you to go.

Use this week to take yourself on a date.

Try something new. Visit a new coffee shop – drive thru Starbucks anyone? Pretty fancy! Go to a movie. Try a different walking route. Go for a drive. Try a new recipe. Sit in a different favourite chair. It’s an amazing practice that can go anywhere large or small! It can be 10 min or 10 hours.

Open the door to a place in yourself you have never been before, or re-open the door to that place in yourself you don’t often get the opportunity to visit.

For your post, tell us what you did, and how this experience inspires you to live your life more fully.

What did you discover?

Bonus: Use this as an opportunity to upgrade your creative process. Many of us here rely on our creativity as the engine of our livelihood. How does allowing our creative process (the artist) to be the essential nutrient in our lives and livelihoods bring us abundance?

Have a blast!
