Success is Loving Yourself

 In Weekly Forum Discussion

I define success as the inner feelings of happiness and contentment. I don’t think that in order to be happy you have to be successful, but rather the opposite. In order to be successful, you need to be happy.

Success isn’t determined by how much money I have in the bank, the truck I drive, or the home I live in. Yes, these components are very important to me, I am truly grateful for everything that I have and the life that I live. But, they don’t define my level of success.

I believe that my success is made up of everyday moments. The little things which make my life whole. I am successful when I have a good night’s sleep and wake up with a fresh mind. I am successful when I take my dog for a walk, which benefits her as well as me. When I am able to get the kids out the door in the mornings and to school on time. I am successful when I pack them lunches they love, but are also nourishomg.

I am successful when I publish an incredible post, one I feel just amazing about. But even more so, when other people relate and understand fully where I am coming from. I am successful when I can reach out to someone and better their day.

Success comes from the passion that I have for everything that I do. It’s the effort and care that is put forth to create something beautiful. Success comes from the place of love. And on my right wrist I have a daily reminder, a tattoo that says love. It is written in the form of a heartbeat rhythm. I had it done on my birthday, as a gift to myself. Anytime I feel doubtful, or low, I look at my arm – love is the answer. Love lifts us up, it motivates us, it allows us to feel worthy and successful. Maya Angelou’s words inspire my own version

Success is loving yourself, loving what you do, and loving how you do it.

I will always make these are three things a priority, which is the secret to my success.
