Reflections

 In Personal Coaching

Have you ever applied make up without a mirror? Foundation should be easy. I’ve done lipstick before and it worked. But doing the whole shebang? The result is so much better with a little bit of reflection from the outside aka a mirror, isn’t it?

If you want to improve yourself and your life self-reflection is an immensely helpful skill. You think and ponder about what drives you. You see where you can improve. You notice what motivates you. Hopefully you also see what your skills and gifts are.

Just like make up isn’t complete with just foundation and lipstick getting some reflection from the outside is always a good idea for growing your life, too. As you can see yourself better with a mirror you can also see your nuances increasingly well with external feedback. Key is to ask people who are interested in your welfare and advancement. This way you receive well-meant advice with an extra dose of love. You might even be surprised to hear that you’re doing much better than you thought.

Often worries, fears and our thoughts play so loud in our heads that we cannot hear the inner voice that wants to tell us what’s our next step or give us the reassurance that we got things covered. All the while we search for solutions outside to fill our perceived lack. How about next time we lean back, relax and listen to our internal webinar instead? For as Nisargadatta Maharaj said: “All you need is already within you, only you must approach your self with reverence and love.” For true growth always originates from love!

This week’s homework: can you see the reflection of who you are in your life?
