Love is Kind

I believe in love.

He hurt me every day… with words. Yet I still loved him. A husband is supposed to love a wife. He did show me occasional kindness, but it came with an ulterior motive. Yet for twenty plus years I gave love. I dreamed of him loving me. I laugh at the things I did or said just to get him to notice me. I would have been ecstatic to receive a simple gesture. My children brought me through it – they love me unconditionally, as I do them.

When my marriage fell apart, I fell into darkness. Love was the light that brought me back. I opened my eyes and realized love was all around me. I just had to look. I don’t need another person to feel love. 1 Corinthians 13 is a beautiful message of love, “Love is patient, love is kind.”

Have patience in life. Have patience even with yourself. I love others, but most importantly I need to love myself (this one is still tough for me). Taking that deep breath and letting go gives me the patience to love everything; even a bad situation has taught me something. Letting love take over allows me to embrace the situation. One situation can completely change my day or life. I have patience, love is there.

Love is being kind. You can do that by simply communicating with someone or a simple smile. It’s there even in darkness…love powers through. I see love every day, even when I am depressed or feeling blue. I see love in many ways. It shines through in little, mundane ways.

People may not say the words, but they show love. The act of showing love is so beautiful it moves me to tears. The act of kindness brings sunshine to the lives of those who need it most. Be happy for others, rejoice in their triumph. No jealousy or envy, just pure love and joy for them. Your happiness and joy will shine through in your eyes. Energy is so powerful it shines on all those around you and me. You become infectious.

Love is not self seeking. Don’t expect things in return. Love is appreciating others and their uniqueness. Don’t try to change people, love them for who they are, perfectly imperfect.

Love is truth…open complete honesty. Being the natural beautiful soul I am. You are being honest with yourself, which is the best gift.

I realized after my time in darkness how easy it is to give love. This sending of love is a natural thing for me. Love shouldn’t be exhausting. Acts of love are not difficult. It is really simple. Think about someone; tell someone, show your love. You don’t have to go over the top. I appreciate simple gestures, even if you try and end up messing things up, that is okay. You tried, which is so important. Your love is in the moments.

I want people to know they are loved even when I am not there. The world is so full of darkness, why not be the light? I choose to be light. I want others to see love, believe in love and then pass love onto others.

The world needs Love.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud, it is not rude, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no records of wrongs, love does not delight in evil, but rejoices in truth~1 Corinthians 13: 4-8”
