Grateful for the Unplanned

Planning makes things go smoother. Of course it does. The retreat I co-hosted this weekend was no exception. This event was planned for months. We organized all the activities, breaks, and special guests. And guess what? Even with the plan it didn’t go as planned.

Was it amazing? Holy smokes yes! But not because of the plan, because of being able to flow with the moments as they arose.

Big lesson for me. Stop. Get really present. Do want you can and then hug a horse. For real. The best thing to happen on the weekend wasn’t planned. It came from the spontaneity of saying “hey big guy let’s hug it out.” And for that lesson I am hugely grateful.

Can you feel gratitude even if things didn’t go as planned? Maybe its not hugging a horse but what’s your golden nugget that came from the plan maybe going sideways? Sink into this meditation and see how things shift with a grateful heart.
