Two Lives
Written by: Sabine Roggermeier; Immersion Coaching
Resistance is a tricky thing. It often mimics the need for more. More information, more resources, more security, more clarity, more structure, more assurance, more orderliness, more, more, more. As if the question yet again is, “Is this enough?” Or plain “Am I enough?” Resistance is a sign of hitting our upper limit. It means it doesn’t show up because of a lack, but rather because of potential expansion.
What is needed for us at that moment is to step into this larger version of ourselves and then get comfortable with it. Other people are often already seeing it in us, while we might still struggle. It is our choice and responsibility to live in this expanded state.
How to resolve the resistance is a unique experience, but here are some of the solution energies available: focus, openness in your heart, creativity, grounding, self-validation, abundance, honouring self, new realizations about yourself and acceptance. Which of these is your personal solution, or are you finding a totally different way to dissolve your resistance?
What we gain from solving resistance is the life we can create from the new place we reach. The choice that is available is beautifully expressed in this quote from Steven Pressfield’s book “The War of Art”: “Most of us have two lives. The life we live, and the unlived life within us. Between the two stands resistance.” So which one will you choose?
This week’s homework:
What’s your way of overcoming resistance?
