The Secret to Happiness is Freedom

In Gluecklich im Sein, Weekly Forum Discussion

My vision is freedom. Let me try to show you what I mean by starting with a quote from Thucydides:

The secret to happiness is freedom. The secret to freedom is courage.

I feel it is specifically the freedom of expressing my authentic self, with all the highs and lows, the good and the bad, which makes me happy. On one hand it surely takes courage to live from my true self without a filter, without a correction of it in order to fulfill people’s expectations. On the other hand when I do that there is an inner relaxation due to being in harmony with all that I am, as well as living from my strengths and my weaknesses without excuses, but full acceptance. This vision finds expression in various activities and areas in my life.

Due to the kind of work I do, I am able to freely choose where to live and also where and when to travel. I enjoy experiencing new places, but even more so new people. I learn from them and their culture and add the richness of these experiences to my expertise.

I am free to create art according to what I feel inside without a critic restricting my creations even before they are born. I explore different materials and styles and learn to use them to express myself. I dare to think and create big, and am received so well my pieces get exhibited.

I have my own business, which allows me to mold it according to my dreams and inspirations. I successfully work with a network of wonderful and creative people and yet I am free to be my own boss. In my line of work I help others become free to follow their dreams and desires, and I can merge my old world of the corporate world with my new world of energy therapy to benefit not only single clients, but whole organisations to move towards success, joy and a love for life.

I live in a house by the beach with easy access to the ocean. I enjoy living there and the surroundings fill up my tanks daily with serenity, joy and energy. My family life is exciting and fun and centers me in what is really important in life.

I value being emotionally self-reliant and the freedom it gives me. I like how Joyce Meyers describes it as follows:

Freedom is not getting everything you want. Freedom is being able to be happy when you don’t get what you want.

Wow, putting together this vision was a ride, and I am amazed by how often I am living my vision right now, here, today!! What an Aha!
