Berry On

Changes and the unknown are a recurring part of life. So much out there, so much potential to change, improve and try new things; willingly or unwillingly.
“Will I make it?” is a question that comes to the forefront of the mind when confronted with change and newness. Will I make it to be a good mother? Will I make it in my new job? Will I make my business be successful? Will I make a great relationship happen? Will I make it to create a cozy home? Will I make what I really want to have happen?
The not so new yet great news is: we are not alone; neither in any new situation that we get into nor in our lives in general. As women we have this natural inclination to collaborate. Maybe it is as they say a genetic remnant of the Paleolithic when we went gathering berries and other plants together. Whether that is truth or rumor fact is “tribe” is an energy that is an integral part of female creation; whether that force is represented by your mother and grandmother, your group of girlfriends or a larger association of women with aligned intentions.
Women are capable of connecting with each other in a very special and soulful way, which is at the same time vulnerable and immensely powerful. Seeing the other woman and at the same time seeing yourself reflected in her allows you a different perspective on what is going on in your life. It creates trust in yourself as well as in the female support that surrounds you.
Having this trust broken and your feelings hurt, whether by proper betrayal or by pangs of envy and rivalry showing up in the behaviour of other women, is a deeply painful experience. Assumingly that happens to each one of us at some point in our lives. Don’t let that stop you from engaging with other women in this intimate way though. You have to realize that you can always trust yourself and that you will make it. Then look for genuine support and carry on. If you ever feel envy or greed watching the success of another woman remind yourself that there are enough berries out there for all of us and carry on.
Why? Because having a group of supportive women as part of your foundation in life not only feeds your feminine soul in a unique way but makes you feel like you can take on anything.
