Perfectly Over-Indulged
It’s not easy to admit some of our guilty pleasures. Not for myself anyways. We live in a society that puts a lot of pressure on being a certain way (especially for a woman I find). We have to eat healthy, keep up with the trends, exercise, say/do “the right” things at the right time and follow allllllll the rules. It’s really important to break out of this mold and indulge in some of our guilty pleasures from time to time in order to be our own unique individual. If we were all perfect life would be quite boring.
I guess your ready for me to tell you my guilty pleasure now… I have been over indulging in my children’s left over Halloween candy. I would love to say it makes me feel good but it doesn’t. It makes me feel really crappy! I get brain fog, headaches and I don’t think it helps that I am lactose intollerant. I keep eating it as if I am doing my family a favour. Now that I have eaten most of their chocolate and candy they don’t have to deal with the sugar withdrawals and future cavities. Win!
The good news is my wonderful husband has taken the remaining Halloween treats to his job site to share with his employees. When I said eating all that candy didn’t make me feel very good I was being honest. It doesn’t make me feel very good physically but mentally it is such a reward! It brings me back to the carefree days of being a kid when my mom would let me eat as much candy as I could on Halloween night to try and get it out of the house as fast as possible.
It felt really good to let loose and ignore my dietary restriction for a couple of days but I am ready to get back to my normal habits.
How do you detox from your Halloween binge?!
