Castles in the Sky

In Gluecklich im Sein, Weekly Forum Discussion

I went to a convention on the weekend right here in my hometown. Two friends asked whether they could stay at my house. I said yes. We all go way back and at least one of them I hadn’t seen in ages. We pretty much stuck together during the entire convention. It was great to reconnect, to feel our friendship and the love we have for each other despite being very different and to share about our current lives. They brought thank you gifts for letting them stay. Both didn’t know right away what to get. Both got the perfect gifts. Apples, homemade canned food, organic grains, spelt pasta, a gift box of body care products. And all of this without knowing about my working on my food plan, not eating wheat or my favourite body care brand! I said yes and received it all acknowledging that this is abundance.

On Saturday the whole group went on a trip to visit two castles, Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein. Neuschwanstein was built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria in the 19th century and is super famous, in part for being Walt Disney’s inspiration for the logo of his production company and some of the castles in his movies. I had been there once before, but didn’t get to see the insides. Both castles are situated on hills, so hiking was the additional entrance fee to see them. I said yes to the first hike, and even to the second. Luckily for part of the second trail there are some means of transport, as my fitness level still isn’t back to where I want it to be. So I am even more proud to have said yes to the second time and pushing my limits. Neuschwanstein is pretty without a doubt, but Hohenschwangau is gorgeous. And with the view you have out the windows I would have said yes to living there, too! Just look at the abundant fall view.

I also said yes to helping friends. One approached me on Sunday afternoon in the middle of cleaning up the convention space. We used to be very close, but after a fall out a few years back we had to work our way back to being friendly acquaintances. So it was really special for me to have her ask me for help. I was guided what to say to her and I feel it helped her while bringing us closer together. That gave both of us a good feeling. On Monday I met with a friend at her horse’s stable so I could help them both. The horse is fairly new there and is startled easily and has issues with being obedient. We had a good time together and it was amazing for me to start the week in the countryside!

One morning my Mom came to have breakfast with me while my Dad had a lengthy doctor’s appointment nearby. Unbelievably it was a first time ever as I usually go to their house to visit and have dinner with them. We had a wonderful mother daughter time together, which we both enjoyed and said so when we parted.

I can really see how saying yes made me engage with life in an abundant way and having this topic as our backdrop for a while now surely helps me to perceive abundance in a clearer way. We have had this “Say Yes!” topic a few times now, but I have never enjoyed it as much as this time around!
