Melanie GrovesHuna Practitioner

I am an Energy healer. I mostly work in the modality of Huna (Hawaiian word for Secret) and am also certified as a Reiki practitioner. I am a wife and a mother of two fabulous boys. This mothering journey has not only honed my energy healing skills but has also made me an epilepsy advocate, as well as a medical cannabis advocate. My eldest has epilepsy. This work has made me a public speaker and writer, sharing with other the trials, tears and victories surrounding parenting, advocacy and helping others on their journey of healing. I keep myself balanced by being in nature as much as I can, by practicing yoga and meditation, and by connecting with the people I love. For fun I love reading, dancing, singing at the top of my lungs in the car when alone, photography and a sweet white wine.

I am Aware of My Toes

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   Have you ever felt your toes? I mean on purpose. Beyond noticing them when you are wearing flip-flops or getting a pedicure?   For me, feeling my toes, that’s my sign that I am in my body. My husband laughs at me, because it sounds like an unusual […]

Connection for the Win

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   “Covid fatigue”, “Covid burnout”, “F@%&*n done”. There are many words or expressions and feelings that have surfaced in the last 24 months as the pandemic seems to finally be slowing down. And just when we think, ok I can take a breath, things are finally calming down, add […]

Have You Had Your Dose of Laughter Today?

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   Passion. The word invokes all sorts of imagery. It oozes with energy, creativity and power. Enter in life, lockdown restrictions are easing, school is changing again, still working from home, caring for aging parents or even keeping your plants alive, walking the dog, it’s a lot and it’s […]

Forgiveness is for Me Too

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   When we think of good habits forgiveness isn’t necessarily the first thing that comes to many minds. Stay with me for a second. The forgiveness I am talking about comes from a beautiful Hawaiian practice called the Ho’oponopono. It’s a beautiful process that helps clear the air or […]

Trust and Float

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   Surrender. That’s been my “lesson” as of late. Interestingly it’s also been the lesson of many of my clients. It’s an easy word to say but it’s hard to put into practice. Beyond being hard, it can be downright uncomfortable as we realize this means we have to […]

Pono: That’s Right

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   Huna principle #7 PONO tells us that effectiveness is the measure of truth. It calls us to be expectant. To expect the best outcome. The word pono loosely translates to mean “right”, “success”, “goodness”. The idea behind the principle teaches us to look at our lives and see […]

Mana From Heaven

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   So funny story. I am sure it will be funny haha soon enough, but right now the ache leaves it more as a funny-ironic taste in my mouth. Ever had a day or even week or in the case of this 5th pandemic wave, a couple of years […]

Happy Just Because

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   What’s my purpose? It’s a big one. I feel it in every cell of  my body that I was meant to come here to help heal the world. To heal in every interaction with others whether an actual healing or simply an exchange between 2 people. I want […]

The Best Gift is the Present

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing Working on being the best version of me involves always checking in with my mini me. Call her what you want, my inner child, my younger self, my subconscious, in Huna we call her my Ku.  She is the version of me that has stored all the pain, that […]

Imperfect and Still Worthy

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing Perfection, the ever elusive never to be found destination because in this human condition we are born flawed. And yet, refusing to accept this, we push and continue to chase the dream, the illusion of perfection. I love this scene from the series Bridgerton where the Duchess says to […]

Be Free

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   There are no limits except the ones in your head. This is how I have come to understand Huna Principle #2 Kala which reminds us to be free because there are no limits. Wayne Dyer had a similar thing to say on limits stating “The only limits you have are the […]

I Am Aware

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   Huna Principle #1 Ike (ee- kay) tells us the world is what you think it is. Calling you to be aware. Awareness for me is key. When I am aware, truly in my body and thoughts, I can easily call out the “monster” and see it for the […]

Cold Feet

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   Whether in the throes of the holiday hustle or swimming in the post holiday wind-down, stress is rearing its head and the antidote is to get grounded. Creating Chaos or Peace

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   Overwhelm. For me it’s a feeling of lack of control. Almost as if drowning, of not being able to keep my head above the water. Except it doesn’t stem from water, it stems from keeping my head, my game, above or in control of all the shoulds, responsibilities […]

Unprecedented Parenting

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing Parenting is messy at the best of times. It’s filled with worry about doing things right because hey, the little ones don’t come with a manual. As parents, we tend to worry about everything related to the little ones even before conception. We see those around us conceiving with […]

The 7 Huna Principles

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   “The most fundamental idea in Huna philosophy is that we each create our own personal experience of reality, by our beliefs, interpretations, actions and reactions, thoughts and feelings.” ― Serge Kahili King, Mastering Your Hidden Self: A Guide to the Huna Way   It’s no secret. I love Huna. […]

Life’s a Balancing Act

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   What comes to mind when you hear “act like a man” or “man up”?   For me it conjures a lifetime of raising men with words that they cannot live up to. With an ideal that creates the very thing that creates the gender inequalities we face. The […]

Lost and Found

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   Staring at the screen. The blank page mocks me. Blocked. Where has my inspiration gone? Where is the flow? I’ve lost myself again. I know because that’s my tell. The loss of inspiration. The staring, the trying, the pushing against the flow. Despite the dizzying speed of the […]

When Mainstream Falls Short

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   Always start with your why. This is my why for what I do. This is why I leapt in to my healing practice, both feet, without hesitation. It of course starts with a story. My family’s story and many other’s stories too as I am finding out. I […]

What Are You Looking At?

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   “Smile in the mirror. Follow Your Gut

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   Ever found yourself thinking about a decision or situation where you ask yourself, “who’s idea was this“? Let’s go deeper on this. They’re Playing My Song

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   Do you ever sing that love song to yourself? Wait…what? You know, that power ballad comes on and you belt out that song with all your heart. Feeling every word of love and admiration fill you up as you sing at the top of your lungs. So what […]

Happy Just ‘Cause

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   I absolutely love this time of the year. The cool nights, the crisp day air, and the explosion of colours on the trees. It’s my favourite time of year. The pace slows down and Canadian Thanksgiving reminds me that the last of my garden needs to be harvested […]

Grateful for the Unplanned

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   Planning makes things go smoother. Of course it does. The retreat I co-hosted this weekend was no exception. This event was planned for months. We organized all the activities, breaks, and special guests. And guess what? Even with the plan it didn’t go as planned. Was it amazing? […]

Oh Well

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   Ever have a day that just doesn’t go as planned? As a recovering Type A these types of days can be a test for me. Thankfully I have a secret weapon. I am practicing the “oh well“. It could have been the full moon. It could have been […]

Learning to Learn

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   I love reading. I always have. And learning, well that just has always come hand in hand with reading. I guess I love learning too. Even when I watch tv I tend to look for things that will engage me, challenge me, make me go, “Holy smokes, I […]

Not Tomorrow or Another Day, Now

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   So often I have found myself putting off some plan or goal to tomorrow, or next week or when things line up better. I even tried to plan the perfect time to have kids. What I learned, and sometimes painfully, was that there will never be a perfect […]

Pay Love Forward

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   I love the beauty of this, of spreading love. I imagine my spreading of love like a pebble tossed in a pond. That single pebble (act of love or kindness) creates many ripples. Just like my kindness out to another, has them put out a kindness, and that […]

No Means Saying Yes to Me

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   No is a complete sentence. ~ Anne Lamont As a reformed people pleaser this quote was hard for me to swallow and laced with “what will they think of me?“, “will they be able to get by?“, and all the other million and one things that come to […]

Where is Your Focus?

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   A great deal of what people say, think, or do is actually motivated by fear, which of course is always linked with having your focus on the future and being out of touch with the Now. As there are no problems in the Now, there is no fear […]

I’m Good With Me

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   Summer is in full swing and restrictions lifting means outdoor barbecues and sipping on summer cocktails.  Catching up with loved ones with a cheers here and a snack there. It’s wonderful to see people again. The social habit of a drink here, a snack there though seems to […]

What if it Will All Work Out?

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   This is my sunflower. It’s almost there. Super huge but still no bloom. I don’t doubt though that it will bloom. I know that in its own time, when the sun and moisture conditions are right this sweet, taller than me, plant will flower in all its glorious […]

It’s Peopley Out There

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing    “Laughter is an instant vacation.” ~ Milton Berle   Summertime is here, Covid restrictions are lifting and we are shifting back to being more social. Outside of the Zoom call, more social that is. I don’t know about you, but all this time with the same folks in […]

All Hail Kale

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   “Wear gratitude like a cloak, and it will feed every corner of your life.” – Rumi Have you ever Googled quotes for gratitude? There are thousands of hits that match that search. Why? Because it’s the secret sauce, well ok less secret now, to transforming your life.  Brené […]

Happy Just Because

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   It’s interesting to contemplate life as we start to emerge on the other side of Covid lockdowns. Pre-Covid life was busy. It was filled with commitments and, in my mind, the reason for not getting my weight in check or committing to the things I wanted to achieve. […]

Fly Emotions, Fly!

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamophosis Healing   “If you spend your time hoping that it doesn’t rain tomorrow, you are wasting your time. Your thoughts don’t change the rain.” Michael A. Singer, The Untethered Soul: The Journey Beyond Yourself   I love this quote from the book The Untethered Soul. It’s hard to pick just one […]

Shake it Off

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   Shake it off. Ever have someone tell you that? I don’t know about you but if I am in mid seething or ranting, telling me to “shake it off” is not helpful. At least not from my ego’s point of view. Ironically, “shake it off” is not only […]

Barefoot Feeling

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   There is a tree in front of my house. It’s huge. I love it. It stands there strongly weathering all the storms and providing cool shade when the sun is unrelenting. I love it even more for it’s wisdom. When I am feeling out of sorts I connect […]

Strike a Pose

Written by: Melanie Groves; Immersion Coaching   Did you know that if you hold a pencil in your teeth and force your face into a “smile” that you actually trigger the same chemical reactions in your body as if you were actually smiling? The things that stick with you from a customer service seminar years […]

Flow to Grow

Written by: Melanie Groves; Immersion Coaching   Raise your hand if you get stuck in the “I need to fix this” loop, even when the “fix” is completely outside of your control. I think we’ve all been there. I know I have. I’ve spent years working on this. In those times I come back to […]

Let it Go

Written by: Melanie Groves; Immersion Coaching   What does it mean to let go of outcomes? To let go of needing control? What does it mean to let go of what’s eating at us? Needing to let go, by its nature, implies that we are laden down with carrying responsibility, stories and beliefs. It reminds […]

Restoring the Balance

Written by: Melanie Groves; Immersion Coaching   I love emojis. Like hieroglyphics I am sure historians will look back and assess us by the way we communicated with these symbols. Choose a favourite? I cannot. I love them all. Each conveys a unique message and each combination of emojis weaves together effortlessly to tell a […]

I Did That…

Written by: Melanie Groves; Immersion Coaching   “Here’s to strong women. May we know them, may we be them, may we raise them” ~ author unknown   I love this quote so much. It speaks of empowerment. It speaks of community and solidarity. It speaks of standing tall in the power of your feminine energy. Being […]

A Little Rain Must Fall

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   Ah sweet Spring. Seedlings are happily poking up in their safe space in the garage. Garden beds are turned and soil topped up, just waiting for that just right temperature to plant the seedlings in their forever home. And for best results that garden needs rain. Rain to […]

Be Impeccable With Your Word

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing One of my favourite books is The 4 Agreements by don Miguel Ruiz. It’s a book I come back to again and again. It’s an easy read and with each reading I find myself learning something more or deepening my knowledge. For those who haven’t read it, this book speaks of […]

Feel the Yes

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   What do you hold back on? Is it that delicious dessert or that trinket for your garden? Or is it that deep down desire to do or be something different? No, Yes. Both very powerful words. No stops creation and Yes gives birth to it. What’s your YES? […]

Can I Get Some Love

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing Today on my walk my son and I saw a heart made of stones in the grass. I wish I had taken a picture. The more amazing thing, as we walked we kept seeing hearts. In the shadow in the stream, in the fluffy white cloud above, in the […]

Listen for Their Words

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   Words make a difference. We create with our words. Teaching our kids the creative power of words early is important. Take for instance words like Coulda, woulda, shoulda…. 3 of the most disempowering words. They convey  regret, guilt and shame which are completely powerless and keep you focused in […]

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   It’s interesting to me that words can stir a visceral full body reaction. Coulda, woulda, shoulda…. 3 of the most disempowering words. They make me shudder. This reads of regret and guilt, which are completely powerless and keep you focused in the past as if stuck in a […]

Follow the Kids

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   Summer heat is blazing. What to do to keep cool? As life does, I was humbled with a lesson to slow down this week. It gave me perspective and made me remember to just be in the moment. Who better to teach me that than my kids. It […]

Summer Salad Loving

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   Summer is synonymous with salads. I can’t get enough of them. I am loving even more that they are changing weekly, inspired by what’s ready to harvest from the garden. This week’s delight was a kale and romaine salad with chives and green onions for the base -picked from […]

Let it Flow to Let it Go

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   It’s interesting to me that life finds a way to send you messages. For instance with my clients I often see patterns, all will show up for instance with back pain. Interestingly this will signal to me to look for areas in my life where I am taking […]

The Little Black Bag

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   With the exception of joy, we have been socialized to see emotions and run. We shove emotions down, we swallow them whole or drown them in food, alcohol, sex, gambling, shopping, or whatever keeps us from feeling them. I love Huna for many reasons. It’s of course a […]

Consciously Parenting

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   What does it mean to bring your best self? For me it means being present, being conscious. It means being anchored in the present moment instead of weighed down by the past or burdened by the fear of the unknown future. Given the current times, I see it […]

Follow the Tingles

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   You can call it goosebumps, truth bumps, I’ve even heard them called angel bumps. All I know is that when that head-to-toe tingle runs up and down my spine, I am going in the right direction. That’s my intuition speaking. It’s a jolt of electricity saying, “Wake up!” […]

Bloom Baby Bloom

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing Use your Intuition. Trust your gut. Follow your heart. There was a time when those phrases frustrated me. Where is the logic, the deductive reasoning that comes up with the right decision? Where is the work that goes into it?  Thankfully, Huna came into my life. I learned to […]

Surprise Date

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing Woohoo, an Artist’s Date. I love these! Oh wait, we aren’t supposed to go anywhere, really, and I live in a house, with people. I will admit my Type A got the best of me yesterday when I saw the topic. What in the world? How will I be […]

Planting Presents

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   As spring is majestically upon us and my hands are happily plunged in the soil, I contemplate the parallels between gardening and life. I am planting seeds that I will tend to. I will spend months nurturing, watering and weeding my garden until it comes time for the […]

I Heart You

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   I love emojis. A simple symbol that conveys feelings beyond what mere words can not always express. As I am reflecting on the anniversary of my dad’s passing I think of how much he loved this time of year. The way the buds would explode into blooms. The […]

I Admire This Woman: Me

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   It’s not conceit. It’s not arrogance. It’s simply me, finally seeing the truth. The woman I most admire most is me. Sweet me. It’s been years in the making, years of looking in the mirror as though it was fogged from an overly hot shower. I’ve spent years […]

Mothers of Invention

Beautiful interview with Laurel Crossley and our very own Melanie Groves, Huna practitioner, epilepsy advocate and mother. Where attention goes, energy flows. This is the first principle in Huna healing. This video is for all the mothers of invention who “do with” – with love, with each other, and with the care of the world in mind. […]

April Showers Are a Hoot!

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   I love the saying April showers bring May flowers. It’s always been for me a symbol of transformation. Of patience. The rain that inconveniences us creates the flowers that inspire us. The idea gets me thinking. Right now, the entire globe is in its own April showers if […]

Embrace Your Inner Momma

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   As spring is waking up and emerging here, I have the urge to connect and be outdoors. My senses are buzzing with the sun on my face as the wind blows my hair. My ears take in the songs of the cardinals and finches, and all the while, […]

Artful Integrity

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   My morning walks are a source of inspiration. It’s a walking meditation as the sun comes up. In recent weeks my walks have transformed into magical interactions with people I don’t know and will likely never meet. I am inspired and find peace in the loving messages of […]

Open Doors With a Yes

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   Yes. A small and mighty word. In this new era, these new unchartered times we can choose to say I’ll wait and see or we can choose action by saying YES when opportunity pops up. What opportunities are lurking for you? I have heard the saying “Necessity is […]

Return to Nature

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   Connecting with nature is where you can find me when I need to re-energize my passion. I say, “Yes,” to being outside among the song of the robins and cardinals, charging my soul from the power of the sun. Inhaling deeply. Connecting with what it means to be […]

Sunshine Legacy

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   What’s my legacy you ask? Besides my mad cooking skills and my killer car-karaoke, I have to say my legacy is spreading sunshine. Like the rays peeking through the clouds after a storm, so do I peek into my interactions to bring light, warmth and comfort. The essence […]

Where is Your Awareness?

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   In a time of uncertainty it’s easy to fall into our usual patterns. Before you know it you’ve emotionally eaten an entire bag of chips or your wine consumption has gone up. Or all of a sudden packages are littering your front porch from the increase in online […]

What a Doozy of a Time Eh?!

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   What do I want to see more of in the world? More Huna! There is scrambling and an energy of fear, anxiety in the air. In this uncertain time, I turn to what Huna teaches. The first principle is IKE: The world is what you think: Be aware. The […]

20/20 Vision

Written by: Melanie Groves; Circle the Child   I see clearly. It took a while to get here but I can say that I can see now, that this moment, this time is but a small piece of a larger puzzle. Only a portion of the canvas is available but in the same way, […]

Hey Pokemon! What. Is. Up.

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   Question: What is the Most Important Issue Affecting Children’s Wellness?   The biggest thing challenge I see is how disconnected children are becoming. The irony is that they are connected to devices but not to each other. Part of it is certainly learned by watching the adults […]

Wondering What Magic Exists

Written By: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   I love these artist’s dates. To catch you up if you haven’t heard of this idea, it comes from a practice that Julia Cameron wrote about in her book “The Artist’s Way”. The intent is to have an adventure—just you by yourself, doing something you’ve never done before. […]

The Seeds of Intention

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   Last week I planted the seeds of intention for my year. It all centers around Nourishment. To nourish my body, my creativity, my health, and others. In that order. Now of course I can’t just leave it at that and merely hope the right amount of light […]

Conscious Nourishment

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   The newness of the year is upon us. Still fresh. Still filled with potential and hopes. So what to do to maximize it? If I look at years gone by, they start with a desire to do something. It stirs up a call to action. It’s time […]

Love, Joy, Kindness. Repeat.

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   Christmas is often called the season of giving. Giving of your time, giving of gifts, and sharing and supporting. This always makes me sad. Let me explain. It makes me sad because the emphasis is only on this time of the year when we dig deeper to […]

Oh Christmas Tree!

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   It’s a Christmas tradition! Over the years there have been many. I would say it has been an evolution of things to savour and enjoy at Christmas. The one constant though for me has been the Christmas tree. I feel like Elf from the movie when I […]

Seeing it From a Child’s Eyes

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   Breathe, just breathe. I love this line from the movie “Ever After” where the heroine calms her nerves before embarking on a monumental moment. I love the visual of the scene, with the sparkles on her face and the delicate fairy wings. It’s magical. It’s stunning and it’s […]

What’s Your Sign?

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   It’s amazing, when you start to look for them, you see signs everywhere. I believe in signs. I truly feel it’s the outside world confirming my inner gut feeling. You know, that little internal knowing that sometimes I don’t fully believe or might even try to dismiss. It’s […]

Magic Makers

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   Anyone can manifest, that’s the truth. It takes focused attention. That too is the truth and also a likely reason why most people think the first statement is false. When I was first introduced to the healing arts, well before I became a Huna practitioner myself, I was […]

The Little Shop Around the Corner

written by: Melanie Groves; Circle the Child Shop Local. That’s the blog topic this week. Challenge accepted! I know exactly where to go. I love this little shop. Nature’s Spirit is located in the heart of downtown Milton on Main Street and it’s our new age shop. They have a wide variety of items in […]

Better Than Sporting a Moustache

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing     Movember: the month to honour men in support of male cancers and, as I recently found out, support in male mental health and suicide awareness. I can’t grow a moustache, so instead, I will honour Movember in this week’s discussion by doing something a little bit differently […]

Consciously Cooking

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   I came by this Artist’s Date quite accidentally. For those of you who are new to our Artist’s date, it’s a concept popularized in Julia Cameron’s book called The Artist’s Way where you take yourself on a date. Just you, by yourself for the purpose of experiencing something […]

Scared of Success

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “Do something every day that scares you.” I love the challenge of this. Fear holds us back. Evolutionarily speaking, it worked for us to keep us safe and alive in the early years of our human existence. In current times, however, at least in […]

I Matter

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   I had the absolute pleasure of attending an empowering Women’s retreat this past weekend. It was transformational, to say the least. This week’s topic of ‘complimenting ourselves’ is perfectly timed since we spent the weekend releasing the baggage of the “not enough” curse, and the “less than” that […]

Loud and Proud

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   I’m PHAT with P-H. When I say it that way it is less harmful right? Especially since someone shared with me that PHAT is an acronym meaning Pretty Hot And Tempting. I can live with that! Except I can’t. I don’t want to hurt myself anymore. More and more research is showing […]

Hashtag Grateful

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   There is a chill in the air now. The days are crisp and the colours are vibrant. I marvel at the majesty of the fall foliage. I love it. All the colours of the rainbow can be seen at this time of year. It’s stunning. I noticed this […]

I Asked for Help and It Was Awesome

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing   This week’s challenge was to re-read our “Planting Seeds” article from the spring to share what we are harvesting. What came of those seeds of intention. What a difference the passage of time can make to my perspective. I re-read the article I wrote in the spring choking back […]

Are These Balls Important?

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing As usual, the blog topic this week was well-timed, though ironic. I am juggling more than I usually would this weekend and seeing that my performance is sliding. I am about 5 hours late in when I would normally have submitted my post. Why? Because of life. Well planned […]

Be Still

Written by: Melanie Groves; Circle the Child It’s interesting to contemplate the shift from learning to teaching. While in my corporate life my role is characterized by the art of bringing people to their Ah-Ha moments, I’ve spent a large portion of my time in the last 5 plus years in my personal life being […]

Just Keep Learning

Written by: Melanie Groves; Circle the Child “Once you stop learning, you start dying.”  This Albert Einstein quote resonates to the core of me. I have always loved learning new things. That for me was a big part of the anticipation of going to school each year. I’d fall asleep and happily ponder “What new […]

Fresh New Notebooks

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing I know I am no longer a student but there is something about September’s “back to school time” that sparks a renewed sense of awakened energy. The lazy hazy days have drawn to an end and there is a quickened pace that keeps time with the speed of the […]

Psst… Pass it On!

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing Pay it forward. It’s such a beautiful challenge. The idea of bestowing kindness to someone and instead of accepting something back in kind, having the person pay that kindness forward. I love the ripple effect that causes. Like a rock being skipped across the water’s surface, the ripples continue […]

No is Not a Bad Word

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing “You can be a good person with a kind heart and still say no.” – Lori Deschene. While I agree wholeheartedly with this quote in theory, it’s been a work in progress to actually believe it and put the word “no” to use in a loving and empowering way. […]

Because Giving Up Isn’t An Option

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing Overwhelm. I close my eyes and I allow that feeling to wash over me. It’s not hard to come up with a distant time in my life or even recently when a moment of heightened emotions laced with feelings of helplessness has created that feeling of overwhelm in my […]

“Should”, Should go to H*ll

Written by: Melanie Groves; Circle the Child The topic of “should” makes me feisty. I read the weekly blog topic yesterday as I normally do. It’s what I call my creative process. I let the topic percolate. Usually, I fall asleep with a couple of ideas floating around in my mind with a vague shadow […]

Juicy Moments

Written by: Melanie Groves; Circle the Child I love the idea of reliving the day by listing the 10 best things that happened. I refer to these as the juicy moments of the day. Sit down, grab a pen and paper and go! What do you write down? For me, especially now that it’s summer, […]

Simple Moments

Written by: Melanie Groves; Circle the Child I chuckle when I see a post challenge that says “pick your favourite”. I can’t pick favourites of anything. It’s not that I don’t want to commit. It’s that to have one moment outshine another somehow dims the other memories. I want to embrace them all. A bouquet […]

Hammock – O – Therapy

Written by: Melanie Groves; Circle the Child I love living where the seasons change all the time. Each one brings its own spectacular vistas and mother nature’s wrath. Right now it’s smack in the middle of summer. I love the summer. I love it the most really early in the morning or late in the […]

Written by: Melanie Groves; Circle the Child Ahh, summer. The sun is back. The sprinklers are going. The garden is starting to sprout. The birds are singing and the days are luxuriously long. I love that the light lasts well beyond dinner time. So even if I’ve missed the high noon sunshine, there is still […]

Feel it, Acknowledge it, and Let it Go

Written by: Melanie Groves; Circle the Child Emotions, Part 2. Never before becoming a parent did I experience emotions more. It’s now mine plus theirs in some complex exponential calculation that makes it a lot more to manage. Sometimes our emotions are in sync and all of us are in flow. More often though, it […]

Shine Your Way

Written by: Melanie Groves; Circle the Child “All of our tears will dry faster in the sun starting today“.  I love this lyrical reference from the song “Shine your way” by Owl City and Yuma. It’s so uplifting. Have a listen here. It also for me talks to emotions or the range of them. Emotions. I used […]

Just Be You

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing What is it to be your best self? As I read the blog topic for the week, I stopped and re-read this line. “When you be your best self, I am granted permission to be my best self also.” This stirs a knowing in my belly. A tingle, as […]

How Do You “Know?”

Written by: Melanie Groves; Circle the Child Do you ever wish you could go back and do things over? Now that I have started to really embrace my “knowing” and understand what that feels like and when to follow that guidance, I would love a time machine to go back and explore other times when […]

Follow Your Gut

Written by: Melanie Groves; Circle the Child “Follow your instincts. That’s where true wisdom manifests itself.” Oprah Winfrey Instincts, intuition, gut feelings. It’s that knowing, that feeling that is just beneath the surface trying to get your attention. It’s also a great guidance system if you just get out of your own way and accept […]

Stop and Breathe

Written by: Melanie Groves; Circle the Child I inadvertently stepped into an artist’s date this week. Between funeral arrangements, making sure everyone was okay, planning, crafting, emailing, cleaning — basically keeping ridiculously busy so as to not feel — you would expect that I would sleep like a baby. Those magical kind of sleeping babies […]

Even Healers Need Help

Written by: Melanie Groves; Circle the Child I am always so fascinated by how the topics for the blog align so much with what’s happening in my life. Spring has sprung. A bit later in my part of the world than is typical, but finally it’s here — and it’s beautiful. For me, it signifies […]

She Did What at Nine Years Old?

Written by: Melanie Groves; Circle the Child There are many amazing female role models out there. Throughout history, these strong, courageous, pioneering, entrepreneurial, kind, compassionate, smart and amazing women have not only overcome obstacles, but shone so hard they paved the way for the generations after them to step into their light and power. Florence […]

I Just Like to Smile; Smiling is My Favourite

Written by: Melanie Groves; Circle the Child I had a really good chuckle at this week’s blog topic. Just last week I had seen a meme that had me laugh and at the same time go “whoa” at the full circle of humanity. As far as we have evolved, we’ve come back to the beginning […]

Raindrops on Roses

Written by: Melanie Groves; Circle the Child My favourite is spring rain. It’s still chilly outside so there isn’t a lot of noise. Most people are cozy indoors, while I’m outside in the cool air, alone with my thoughts and the music of the chirping birds who are singing as though to coax the plants […]

It’s the Right Thing to Do

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing “Integrity is doing the right thing, even if no one is watching.” I love this quote by C.S. Lewis. It sums up how I choose to approach life and my interactions with people. It’s what helps me sleep at night. Doing things right — ethically, and with integrity — […]

Re-boot: From No to Yes

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing So for the first time since I began blogging I am late in posting. And not just a couple of hours or a day, but a whole week! (Our private community is one week ahead of our public blog.) I blame it on saying YES. It’s an interesting journey […]

Focused on Now

Written by: Melanie Groves; Metamorphosis Healing I woke up this morning to a beautiful and breathtaking sight. The trees and the street are covered in sparkly fresh white snow. I head outside in my pyjamas to get a closer look. It’s stunning. It’s quiet outside and for a moment I feel like it’s just me […]

No Regrets

What is my legacy? What a topic to contemplate. When I think of what I’d like my legacy to be, I think what would it say on my resting place marker. I say that because I don’t really resonate with a traditional burial. I want to be planted with roses or with a mighty oak […]

Just Keep Swimming

Bad days, bad weeks, they happen. I am not immune, though I would very much like to be! It’s no secret I’ve been going through a lot in my personal life recently.  What they call the “sandwich generation” is an accurate reflection. I am a daughter supporting my mom in taking care of my sick […]

Sing in Perfect Harmony

I’d like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony. When I read the challenge for this week, immediately a song from my past came to mind. The only lyrics I remember are “I’d like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony.”  The message was so uplifting it was even used as […]

Energy Flows Where Attention Goes

Seeing it in my mind’s eye. I have been working a lot with visualization lately. I’ve dabbled in it and gotten success. I know it works. But I haven’t yet embedded it as a habit. At least not yet. It seems a bit backward especially since it’s been a big part of working with our […]

And You Are Radiant

Let’s talk about habits. We have ones that serve us and ones that we’ve done for so long that we can’t remember when or why we started. If we sit back and look at these, we often realize they don’t work for us anymore.  In energy work, I spend a lot of time helping clients […]

Smile On, Friends!

I believe in the magic of a smile. Try not to smile when a baby smiles or laughs. It’s impossible. That smiling impish face emanates pure joy and love as though rays of sunshine are exploding from their very essence. And like magic, it spreads. Smiling is contagious. It sends out ripples. I tested the […]

Ocean Clean Up Made Simple: Start From Home

Valentine’s flowers are starting to droop and the lovely wine and or chocolates are a sweet memory (unless you are really disciplined). The post-Valentine’s rush seems to be fading. With all that love and kindness thrown around I am enjoying the feel-good endorphins. I want to keep up the rush. I look out further. I […]

Love is an Ongoing Pursuit

What if my vision were my Valentine? Humour me for a second. This vision of “healing the world, starting with me“, gets my focus, my attention, my directed consciousness. It gets the best of me, so how fun to think about what if my vision were my Valentine? What show of love would it gift […]

Starting With Me

A few posts ago I talked about my intentions for the year. Which in brief were linked to nourishing every part of my life. In the food and care I give myself and in the care I give out to others. That’s the How. The Why comes from my vision. Bring healing to the world starting with […]

Ignorance is bliss. When I started on this self-awareness journey I didn’t know what I know now. And I have worked on myself. Really worked on uncovering who I am, what the things that hold me back are, and am working at cleaning up that energy to help me continue to move forward. And now […]

The OTHER F-Word

Well I guess there is no escaping it. It’s shown up all week. It crept into my yoga practice. It reared it’s head at the office. It peaked out unexpectedly on a coffee catch-up. And now it’s here in this blog topic. The dreaded four letter “F” word. No not that one silly rabbit, F-E-A-R. Yeah. […]

Kaleidoscope of Life

I love Kaleidoscopes. As a kid I could stare up for hours watching the ever changing landscape through the lens. Fast or slow it was beautiful. Even odd shapes or designs were magnificent. Each change brought with it wonder and awe and anticipation of what feast for the eyes the next click would bring. As […]

The Little Black Shirt

I was asked what Dress for Success looks like, and I have been pondering it. I have a friend who rocks scarves. Doesn’t matter the style, length, or colour, she expertly twists them this way and that, and achieves a look that is effortless and commanding at the same time. In my younger days, I […]

A Strong and Co-operative Mind

As I was cheering on a co-blogger as she embarks on a 100 mile run today, I came across this little video of Sherri. She is inspiring – 100 miles. At this point it’s a mental game. I am wishing for her the most amazing weather, and a mind that is strong and cooperative. You […]

Pencil Me In For a Catch-up!

Let’s go for a coffee. Ahh the bliss of a coffee catch up. What does that look like for you? For me there are themes that change based on season or moods. But if you and I were to go for a coffee this week here’s what it would look like. I love this time […]

Can’t we all remember a good teacher? My memories of school are based on the teachers I had, and how they approached their craft. I can still recall the most profound learning experiences, and the assignments that triggered that learning. Furthermore, I can still feel the passion of those teachers: it dripped into the lessons, […]

It’s in Writing; It’s Out There

I am having a love hate relationship with wine lately. It started over the summer; the endless sea of barbecues and patio meet ups were more than abundant. At first it started with a smidgen of indigestion. It can’t be the wine. It must have been “_______”. Then my sleep started getting messed up. I […]

All of the Sparkles

“You are too nice“. The first time I heard that, I couldn’t even make sense of it. What did that even mean? How could you be too nice? If someone was in need of compassion, empathy, support, or even a kind word, then by all means, why wouldn’t I bestow that kindness? How could kindness or […]

Listening for the Meaning Behind the Words

How do I define myself? It’s an interesting topic that has come up a number of times in the last month. I’ve been asked for bios for both the healing-practice side of my life, and for my moonlighting side of my corporate life. Of course, both are vastly different. But the process to define the […]

Flow Knows Better Than Me

What is it to be in flow? I can tell you, this writing adventure has helped me crystallize the concept in my mind. I sat down to write this three separate times this week. I was playing over the concept in my mind of flow, and ironically, the flow of writing did not come. Those […]

That’s Right, I Had to Buy Lipgloss

I love the idea of the Artist’s Date. A time to put myself first, to do something I wouldn’t ordinarily do, to spark creativity and confidence. I must say I was nervous – I had fluttering of butterflies and everything. So, the big reveal. I chose a photo shoot. Not me behind the camera as […]

There Are No Limits

September, back to school, and a post about learning? Three of my absolute favourite things! As I get ready to send the kids back to school it sends me into a state of reflection. They are eagerly chatting about their upcoming year, wondering what their teacher will be like, or who will be their friends in […]

That’s Right, I Had to Buy Lipgloss

The Artist’s date part 2. I love the idea of the Artist’s date. A time to put myself first. To take some time doing something I wouldn’t ordinarily do to spark creativity and confidence. I must say I was nervous. I had fluttering of butterflies and everything. So the big reveal. I chose a photoshoot. […]

Vision Board 2.0

How would I define success? Would I consider myself successful? I’d say yes, and also that I am a success in progress. Let me elaborate, years ago, I made a vision board. It’s funny, I have seen this picture everyday since making it; it’s now burned into my subconscious. My husband even framed it for […]

Energy Flows Where Attention Goes

Expanding on the topic of a few weeks ago, I am exploring the idea of my vision – my life’s passion. Here’s what I am focused on: Expanding my healing practice Sharing our family story to help others Opening a healing centre for children and their families How does this vision show up in my […]

Gratitude: The Secret Weapon

I find myself smirking at the assignment this week. Maybe because I am trying to find a way to bend the rules. I mean, to name a single thing of gratitude?!  How do I begin to narrow it down? How do I pick just one thing to be thankful for, when I have been blessed […]

When I Grow Up

“What do you want to be when you grow up?” If I heard that question once, I must have heard it hundreds of times. And, I knew but I didn’t have a word for it. I knew I wanted to help people get better, to which well-meaning adults would say, “oh you want to be […]

Planes, Trains, Bikes and Rollerblades

Transportation of days past – what an interesting contemplation. Summer did come with adventure and excitement, but being one of four kids, it also meant independence and getting where I needed on my own. In the early days, I remember the Big Wheel. Ah, that hard plastic seat, and the forced leaning back to get […]

That State of Summer Awesome

Ah, summer, the long lazy carefree days. Just thinking about those times makes me want to stop adulting, turn back time, and go there; to be immersed and present in that time, in order to replicate that zen, that state of simple well being. And then bottle it, so that when the present moment has […]

You Are Great and Limitless

What if you can fly? As a parent I use this line of thinking with with my kids. It conveys wonder and empowerment all at the same time. And, from the parent’s perspective, can elicit a little bit of fear too. What if you get hurt? What if your wings aren’t strong enough yet? My mom […]

If You Think You Can, You’re Right

In the ocean of social media memes there is no shortage of inspiring quotes from which to draw wisdom, knowledge, courage, or even a smile. I find that many of the follows I give in any of those platforms are to those who help inspire, empower, and spread messages of hope. This one for me […]

Darling, What if You Fly?

“All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them” – Walt Disney I love the wisdom of this quote. To have a desire, a dream is easy. Following through on that passion is quite another thing. It’s easy to get convinced by the little fear voice that says: think about […]

First Date, the Artist’s Way

It’s quite interesting how things come into my awareness. I have had The Artist’s Way recommended to me a number of times. It sits on my list of books to read. And, here, this week the writing challenge is one of the exercises from the book – The Artist Date. Sweet, saves me the reading! […]

I Am Your Sunshine

I am the spreader of sunshine. For me the sun has always been an important part of my life, metaphorically and literally speaking. In university I got a tattoo of the sun. It was (and still is) a reminder that no matter what, the sun always shines, even if it’s behind the clouds, it’s there. […]

Always Do Your Best

Good enough. Sticky with perfectionism, this idea has had it’s way with me. In my mind, it used to be synonymous with slacker or not trying hard enough. Who defined that? I don’t know, but it sent me down a rabbit hole for a long time. And like many things along this journey I got […]

Where Does Perfectionism Start?

I must admit, while I have been loving this blogging adventure I have struggled with this topic. PERFECTIONISM. For a week I’ve been trying to reframe and find the beauty and the humbleness in my own inner perfectionist and I will admit, if this were a fight in the ring, I’d be pretty bruised up […]

All The Flowers!

I just pick one flower to love??! What a tough ask. Picking one flower that I love best is like asking me to pick a colour from the rainbow. They are all exquisite, they come with stories, and elicit feelings of wonder and awe. I love spring for the pop of colour from the flowers. […]

The Pride of the Accomlishment

Do the best you can until you know better, then, when you know better, do better – Maya Angelou It’s so amazing how your demons come out to haunt you when you least expect it. 5 years now spent on a journey of healing and self discovery and of self love and yet as I […]

Exploring My Creativity

Spring has sprung! I feel this new sense of energy, re-invigoration! This has always been one of my favourite times of the year. Everything comes alive and bursting with life, colours are everywhere, fragrance fills the air. It’s exquisite. I am lucky to have a yard where I can plant a garden. I planted seeds last […]

For the Love of Motherhood

I laboured with the topic of motherhood. It’s huge really to consider. Mothering takes all manner of shapes and forms. I can start with my own mother. Amazing woman. So many little things strike me now that I took for granted growing up. The way she made our homemade snacks, no pre-wrapped packaged stuff in […]

Metamorphosis Healing

I sometimes find it tough when asked to talk about my expertise. At first I feel as though it’s bragging or showboating – but wait! Someone has actually asked me, which must mean I have permission. And then I cringe at the thought of needing validation or permission. We all have a purpose here on […]

These Are a Few of My Favourite Things

It’s interesting to be contemplating my perfect day off. Something to plan for, something that I look forward to, but how to narrow it down? And, while I was playing this idea over in my mind I happened to have a conversation with my mom. My dad is sick. He’s been very weak and has […]

Making History and Having Fun With It

Eleanor Roosevelt said “Well behaved women rarely make history”.  So who defines what “well” behaved means? And does this mean that this label of well behaved applies only to women or that men can misbehave and also make history? And then history…….to say I’ve made history holy smokes that’s a big one! Let’s break down […]

The Road to Clarity and Understanding

Follow the yellow brick road, follow the yellow brick road, I am almost singing in my head as I write the words. It does conjure magic doesn’t it? So where is my yellow brick road taking me? How far is Oz? How will I know I am there? And as I contemplate these questions I realize […]

Speak Out in Meetings

Where to start with the rabbit holes? To me the rabbit hole is like a tornado that shakes me around and tosses me out on the other side, forever a changed person. As I look back, there are many, and they always share the same theme. The dreaded “SHOULD“. From very early on, this was […]
